TECH ADS UP?

Intuit just reported small businesses added 25,000 jobs created in May and 250,000 since October. So it seemed a good time to do a hardly scientific quick scan of Monster.com postings. But that efforts suggested the tech business is improving slowly, like the rest of the economy. And things looked better than a few months ago when I last did this exercise. These counts are for April and May through yesterday, with no attempt to see if individual postings represented multiple jobs.

Deltek had 28 postings, and it’s probably a sign of the money going into government contracting. Blackbaud had 15 separate posts, maybe reflecting a reported uptick in giving, maybe reflecting its new products and strong subscription business. Intuit itself looks like it just started hiring as it had six posts in May and one of April 29 and none before that. Nothing from Sage turned up, but except a few reseller ads. NetSuite had six posts for May and four for April. Epicor made three posts in the last 10 days. Microsoft had only one post – maybe it’s not using Monster – but like Sage, channel hiring turned up with a few from Hitachi Consulting and a lot of Avanade, but most infrastructure stuff.
