MICROSOFT DEBUTS FRX REPLACEMENT
Microsoft has put FRx out to pasture and just introduced its replacement, Management Reporter 2.0, which is apparently going to tag along with all four Dynamics financial applications at no cost. However, it is only available initially with Dynamics GP 2010. I’m assuming this is designed to deter those who might seek to purchase an FRx alternative. Management Reporter does many of the same things as FRx so let’s look at the things Microsoft says are different.
That includes direct integration to the Microsoft Dynamics ERP general ledger. There are also reusable building blocks meaning that Report, Row, Column and Tree definitions can be mixed and matched to produce a wide variety of boardroom-quality reports. And there is a Report Library where reports (well, what else?) can be secured, stored and viewed. Microsoft is also making available migration information and a tool for migrating from FRx.
