MICROSOFT JABS AT ORACLE

Michael Park, corporate VP for Microsoft Business Solutions, has made one of the most direct attacks against Oracle that I remember from anyone in this company. He must have been infected by NetSuite’s marketing approach, but caught only a mild case. Posted on the Executive Insights forum on the Microsoft Dynamics Community Web page are questions that Park suggests Oracle customers should ask when they attend Oracle OpenWorld, which is being held September 19 through 23 in San Francisco.

These center around Fusion applications starting with "What are Fusion Applications going to do for me? What happens to the investments I have made in my [non-Oracle] technology assets? Will Oracle support any retraining I will need as we undertake a replatforming project to Fusion Applications? Is adopting Fusion Applications a choice, a mandate, a way to keep on the cutting edge, or a way for Oracle to integrate its application portfolio? If I prefer a two-tier ERP implementation strategy, will Fusion Applications provide my divisions/subsidiaries/branches with the flexibility they need, while I’m replatforming my core system?" Of course, Park suggests Microsoft Dynamics is an answer to these.
