SAAS-SWITCHING BATTLE BREWING?

In theory, Internet-based products were supposed to make product switching harder. After all, the data was sitting at some vendor's site.  But Doug Johnson, VP of marketing for Acumatica thinks he sees a battle brewing as companies using SaaS products switch to other SaaS products.
Johnson points to recent news releases from his company, which makes Internet-based and on-premise versions of its software, and others as showing that the action is coming from end user companies switching from on SaaS platform to another, not moving from on-premise software. Customizations, he believes, lock end users into a particular vendor, not the SaaS platform itself. And if you read summary of the views of Skyytek CEO Ray Tetlow on the need for customization at SMBs, then that's not going to be the factor in holding end users loyal that many expected.
