INTUIT'S QBES ROLLS ON

Jim Chidester, IntacctThe customer base for Intuit's QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions kept growing during the second quarter ended January 31. The number of active users hit 62,000 at the end of the quarter, up 21.6 percent from 51,000 for last year's corresponding period. The second-quarter total was also up from 60,000 users at the end of the first quarter.

Active users are defined as those on maintenance. The company does not release data on numbers of units sold. And that is all the information Intuit releases on the QBES, which is too small a part of the product line to draw comment during earnings webcasts, like the one held this week. What continues to be interesting is the relationship of Intuit with Intacct since Intuit is recommending the latter's online product for those who have outgrown QuickBooks. That was the original mantra for QBES, although that product is not available on the cloud. The most recent public evidence of this is a mailing for an Intacct webinar scheduled for February 29 that is designed to help QB users know when it is time to switch. The webinar is being led by Intacct product marketing manager Jim Chidester.
