SGS PARENT PICKED UP BY EIDE BAILLY

Stuart Tholen, SGS TechnologySGS Technology is bringing a bigger technology practice to Eide Bailly. SGS is a subsidiary of Schmitt, Griffiths Smith & Co., based in Salt Lake City, which is merging with Fargo, N.D.-based Eide. The deal is effective November 1.
SGS Technology carries a broad line of products that Sage sells in the United States. Those products are Sage 100, 500, FAS, CRM, BusinessWorks, HRMS and Act. The firm this year took on SAP’s Business By Design. SGS was No. 90 on Bob Scott's Top 100 VARs for 2012 with $3.85 million in revenue. Eide said that Schmitt, Griffiths would add $6 million in revenue to the North Dakota firm's revenue. Eide has a technology practice, Techwise, but it has not been heavily involved in midmarket reselling for several years. The firm does handle Intacct, but that online product had been limited to one office. The SGS addition is interesting in that it brings in a competing cloud product. Stuart Tholen has led the SGS business as president since January 2006.
