INFOR GETS NEW HQ, LOGO
The remake of Infor under CEO Charles Phillips continued this week as the company opened its new headquarters in New York City. And it rolled out new branding with redesigned logo that is said reflected the new design of its applications. Seventy five officers and employees will be housed at the office at 641 Sixth Avenue in Manhattan during the first year while its Alpharetta, Ga., office will continue to be home to many corporation and administrative functions.
In describing the change, Infor took an artistic tone in its press release. "While traditional business applications were not much to look at, Infor has prioritized beauty as a competence, providing a look-and-feel that represents accessibility, openness, and agility in a crisp, straightforward way," it announced. Somehow, beauty is an attribute that I had not associated with business applications. My guess has been that the move to the city is intended to support a future initial public offering by putting offices in the heart of the country's financial world. No matter how Infor fares with users, the organization has accomplished an astounding remake in its look and ways of doing business since Phillips moved into the job two years ago this month.
