FinancialForce has hired Chris Lee as VP of strategic sales. In that role, he is responsible for the company's Enterprise and General Business sales groups He was VP and GM for North America for DocuSign's financial services organization from July 2014 through September 2016. Before that, he was strategic account manager for Salesforce.com from April 2003 through July 2010 and VP of enterprise sales from July 2010 through July 2014.

Intuit is envisioning QuickBooks Online Accountant as a platform to unify the software operations of tax and accounting firms. The view the future was outlined this week by EVP CeCe Morken at Intuit's investor day last week. Morken noted accountants utilize separate applications for tax preparation, accounting and practice management.

FreshBooks, which makes cloud-based accounting software, has launched a new version that is targeted at the self-employed. The Ontario-based company says the product has a new interface and new features, which include redesigned mobile apps for iOS and Android and reimagined invoices.
AVALARA RAISES $96 MILLION

Sales tax vendor Avalara has raised $96 million in new capital. Fifty million of that will be used to fund growth and acquisitions while the remainder was used to repurchase shares from early investors. The latest round of financing brings the total raised by the Seattle, Wash.-based company to $300 million.

Danny Estrada, who has spearheaded Net@Work's CRM program, has left the New York City-based reseller. Estrada had been with Net@Work since October 2005 and served as its CRM Practice Director. His LinkedIn profile shows that he has founded a company named E Squared, based in Red Bank, N.J. His profile explains the reason for his departure this way:

Richard Duffy, who was an Acumatica VP for 18 months, has started a new business in Sydney, Australia. Duffy's LinkedIn profile shows that this month he became CEO of SMB Solutions, which is designed to provide marketing consulting services for those involved with products such as SAP Business One, Acumatica and MYOB Advanced.

Diane Haines, who one reseller described a quarterbacking a lot of Sage 100 efforts, has left Sage. Haines has joined Open Sesame, based in the Portland, Ore., area, as VP of marketing. Haines LinkedIn profile shows Open Sesame provides on-demand elearning courses for Global 2000 companies. She was with Sage for six years as a VP of marketing.

I have invented a new kind of computing for those who aren't particularly adept at technology. It's called "Clod-based Computing". .. One of the things I have always wanted to do is place "No Exit" signs on all the exits from a roundabout. I would then wait and take bets on the maximum number of revolutions for drivers too timid to disobey the signs. ... Tonight, I believe, is the Harvest Moon. I think our society needs to update such outdated concepts as that and the Hunter's Moon.

Sage is expected to release Sage 100c and Sage 100 2017 next week. There's a channel webinar scheduled for September 21, with the product availability cheduled for three days later. It's hard to know what to expect as Sage's PR team seems to have gone into witness protection. There have been no press releases from the North American operation since July 28. There were 12 published on the website from July 24 through July 28.

Xero expects to introduce a global Partner Program in November, along with Xero HQ, which the web-based software company calls an open practice platform. This accompanies the introduction of a new certification process. Members will also have the ability to earn points by adding clients, which will give them the opportunity to grow more quickly, the company says.
