MICROSOFT RENAMES WPC; KILLS ENVISION

Christ Caposella, Microsoft Microsoft has renamed the Worldwide Partner Conference. The event to be held from July 9 through 13 in Washington D.C. will be called Microsoft Inspire while the ill-fated Envision, the replacement for convergence, will become part of Microsoft Ignite from September 25 to 29. The change was recently announced on a blog by Chris Capossela, the company's chief marketing officer.

SAGE'S KELLY PAID $2.1 MILLION

Steve Kelly, SageSage CEO Steve Kelly received about $2.1 million in compensation for the year ended September 31. It was the first full year of pay for the software company's top executive. He joined the company in October 2014 and received about $1.9 million for fiscal 2015.

RETAIL STRONG FOR INFOR QUARTER

Charles Phillips, InforInfor saw strong results from its entry into the retail market for the second quarter ended October 31. The giant software company moved into retail two years ago and performance "continues to outpace expectations", CEO Charles Phillips said in the company's recent earnings call. He noted one sale to Nordstrom which he said represented "the largest POS invoice ever signed in an industry."

XERO RETOOLS ADVISOR DIRECTORY

Doug LaBahn, XeroXero says it has revamped its Advisor Directory, taking advantage of the company's move to the AWS platform. The cloud software company says the directory now utilizes a chatbot to connect small businesses to advisors via social media.

TOP EPICOR VAR MOVES INTO U.S.

John Preiditsch, Six S PartnersWaterloo, Ont.-based Six S Partners is moving into the reselling market in the United States. An Epicor VAR, Six S is merging with Yorktown Heights, N.Y.-based Tri Gem to form a jointly owned company that will operate under the Six S name in this country. Six S Partners was Epicor's Global Partner of the Year for 2015 and 2016 and Americas Partner of the Year for four consecutive years.

RETAIL PRO NOW SAP PARTNER

retail proRetail Pro International has joined the SAP PartnerEdge program. The Folsom, Calif.-based software developer says as a result its retail management software is now available on SAP Business One. Participation in the program enables the company and distributors to build, market and applications on top of SAP software. Retail Pro says it now has access "to all relevant SAP technologies in one simplified framework under a single, global contract."

SAGE VP WINGROVE JOINS AVALARA

Mike Wingrove, AvalaraAvalara has named Mike Wingrove as VP of channels. Wingrove comes to the sales-and-use-tax company from Sage where he was VP of North American sales from July 2012 until taking the position with Seattle, Wash.-based Avalara. He reports to Pascal Van Dooren, Avalara's chief revenue officer.
