ORACLE WINS NETSUITE OFFER

After sparring with investment firm T. Rowe Price for a couple of months, Oracle has won its bid to take over NetSuite. After extending its tender offer third time, Oracle said the November 4 deadline would be the last. The parties said this week that the bidder, which needed a majority of unaffiliated shares, had 53.21 percent of that class of shares tendered.

Crowe Horwath has introduced a suite of Dynamics AX apps. The suite comes when Microsoft is pushing Dynamics 365, the cloud version of AX without a clear migration path for the installed base. That lack of migration path has stirred a lot of conversation among users and slowed down buying cloud decisions, according to resellers.

My nightmare is that the current presidential election is going to be like the movie, "Groundhog Day". When we reach Election Day, we are going to wake up six months earlier and go through all this again. Edgewater Technology saw a steep drop in net income while revenue declined much less sharply for the third quarter ended September 30. Net income plummeted to $43,000 in the most recently ended quarter from slightly more than $1 million a year earlier. Revenue was $30.8 million, down 1.1 percent from $31.2 million in last year's corresponding period.

Two Dynamics resellers that report publicly are saying that the move to the cloud with Dynamics 365 is causing sales issues. Denmark-based Columbus and Edgewater Technology both pointed to Microsoft's move to push to the cloud with 365, an online version of Dynamics AX. Edgewater CEO Shirley Singleton said in her company's earnings webcast that the lack of a migration path for the desktop AX users is causing businesses to reconsider buying decisions.

FayeBSG, a SugarCRM reseller, has acquired another Sugar VAR Atcore Systems, based in Atlanta. Founded in 2006 by CEO Josh Sweeney, the Atcore practice will be folded into the new Atlanta office of Woodland Hills, Calif.-based FayeBSG. Besides the Atlanta presence, Faye has Philadelphia, Texas; Austin, Texas; and Los Angeles, Calif.

Retail software company Aptos has hired Frank Lord as its sales and revenue leader. Lord, who will be based in the United Kingdom will be responsible for both global sales and the company's partner alliances organization. He worked at Oracle from December 2007 through August 2016.
INTACCT TO DEBUT IN-MEMORY DATABASE

Intacct is preparing to utilize an in-memory database for its cloud products, starting with an analytics application. At Intacct's recent Advantage conference, chief technology officer Aaron Harris said a limited release will be released early next year. As to when such products will be available, Harris said, "It's hard to say when that broad deployment will happen".

Reseller Brainsell Technologies has broadened its wide line of CRM packages with the addition of OroCRM. The Topsfield, Mass.-based reseller it is the No. 1 reseller for SugarCRM and the addition of OroCRM gives it two open source CRM packages. Brainsell CEO James Ward, who reported the founders of Oro were Magento founders, noted his firm already has open source skills
