SAGE: ACCPAC WEB CLIENT THIS YEAR

Sage has published a development roadmap for Accpac, and given the way this stuff generally makes its way around the channel, I'm one of the last to know. But the plan calls for the release of a web client for financial and operatinal modules in the fourth quarter, along with mobile support and expanded virtual platforms. That's in Version 6.1. DELTEK AND THE CHANNEL?

Kevin ParkerThe recent death of Sean Hickey, the VP of sales at Deltek, had me thinking more about that company and its relationship to the channel. Hickey, you may remember, had taken over Taylor Macdonald's job after he left at the end of 2008. Since then, the channel has shrunk as stronger VARs have taken over the business of other channel members. But it's the acquisition of Maconomy that has my focus and Maconomy is clearly the hot ticket at Deltek and it's a direct sales organization.

SUITEWORLD: THE BODY COUNT

There are few better ways of measuring the impact of NetSuite in the market than the number of press and analysts attending SuiteWorld in San Francisco.  Officially, there were 80 which puts it in the same ballpark as the attendance from this estate as attended Microsoft’s Convergence confab. (I’m officially admitting analysts into the fourth estate to make this analogy fly.)  Read more...

NETSUITE GOING BIG IN CHANNEL

With NetSuite having signed Accenture and RSM McGladrZach Nelsoney in its channel, the logical thought was what other major players might its sign for its program. With the price of OneWorld up around $100,000 and now the addition of NetSuite Unlimited, the thought occurred that there ought to be a lot of consulting services around the upper end of the company’s product line. It wasn’t hard to surmise that other big fish might be enticed into the NetSuite pond. With the crowd flowing by, it was a little hard to spot but there were representatives of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte and KMPG present with badges bearing the name “Guest.”
