Acumatica has named Kathy Visser-May as chief marketing officer; and Nigel LeGresley as chief operating officer. Stijn Hendrikse was the cloud software company's first CMO and served from March 2012 until he left for a sister company in May 2014. A Microsoft veteran, like many Acumatica leaders, Visser-May was senior director for the IT Pro Audience and Platform Evangelism Team from July 2012.

Sage CEO Steve Kelly has been keeping up a blog on his company's site. And that's something that is hard for executives to do with regularity. But it's not available on the North American site. In April, Sage named Antoine Henry as global VP of product marketing, announcing it only in French. Sage talks of ending its country-by-country operation. PR has not been touched. And there often does not seem to be an effort to create publicity for the company and its products. Asked about the X3 sales conference recently in Istanbul, a Turkey,a PR person replied there was no news. There's no "but we can arrange an interview, now, at Summit," about those topics.

There's a scientific study that is trying to decide if people transmit happiness by smell. I don't know about happiness, but I've frequently been able to transmit disgust that way. ... I was walking around taking photos when a guy asked, "Can you use all that equipment?" "No," I replied. "But I know how to use a credit card real well." ... Gravity 2015 has been introduced by Gravity Software. Debuting, this month, the cloud-based application is built on Dynamics CRM Online and is aimed at providing integrated financials and CRM capabilities on that platform. Gravity was founded by president, John Silvani, who operated the former First Tech Direct Microsoft software reseller. The Financials element offers a flexible chart of accountants, budgeting and analysis and an advanced reporter writer. The company is offering a free 30-day trial.

TrueCloud, a reseller based in Tempe, Ariz., was named Worldwide Solution Provider Partner of the Year for 2015 by NetSuite. The company has four other locations in southern California, Utah and the St. Louis and Kansas City areas. TrueCloud was co-founded by CEO Mark Wenig. Last year's top reseller, McGladrey was named Americas Solution Provider Partner of the Year this month. Steve Ems, who heads McGladrey's technology practice, noted recently that the awards are based on sales volume so that McGladrey was essentially No. 1 in the NetSuite world last year and No. 2 this year.

Deltek Open Plan 3.5, a scheduling and resource management application, has come to market. Herndon, Va.-based Deltek says the new release improves on the product's critical path management scheduling. "This latest update enhances the user experience, delivers more capabilities, and improves integration between Open Plan and other systems," Namita Dhallan, EVP of product strategy and engineering, said in a prepared statement.

UXC Eclipse, based in Australia, has agreed to sell the Ax|is Fashion software from K3 Software Solutions. Headquartered in the United Kingdom, K3 specializes in fashion and apparel applications based on Dynamics products. Ax|is Fashion, built on Dynamics for Retail, is described as "a concept-to-consumer solution that is literally made to measure, ready to wear.
EPICOR HITS CLOUD WITH POS

Epicor Software has introduced Epicor Retail Store Point of Sale in the Cloud. The company this month promised the product would significantly reduce deployments from what it said are often one-to-two year ordeals. The system utilizes Amazon Web Services Infrastructure as a Service platform moving all business logic to the cloud. Epicor also says the application enables retailers to "future proof" [a phrase I hope doesn't catch on POS systems to scale and support new countries/regions and new POS devices, along with integrating with new technologies and new partners.
SOLOMON: SAGE X3 LEADERSHIP WEAK

Alex Solomon, co-founder of New York-based Net@Work, says sales of Sage X3 are growing at 30 percent to 40 percent. Despite that, Solomon says that in the Sage lineup X3 "has the weakest leadership. It's mindboggling. You have such a strategic product, and that's where you are investing all your money and your leadership is the weakest they have ever seen." No matter how serious their complaints resellers usually do not tee off about vendor issues publicly.
