Sage has launched a new Sage Marketplace. The marketplace, built on the AppDirect Platform, started off this week with 100 vendors with products that work with Sage 100.

While that number will likely grow to 300, Sage does not plan to let ISVs post their products. “We do not intend to open it up for self-provisioning,” said Dewey Forrester, EVP of partner of partners and alliances. The marketplace opened in the United States and will be available later in Canada and then South Africa with a decision about other countries to come later. Each country will have its own portal, principally because of currency. Similarly, Sage 300 products will be added and then apps for  X-3, probably by the end of the current quarter. And Sage Intacct? “There is interest. We want to be smart as to how we approach that,” Forrester said. Sage tests and verifies all applications. The platform provides online ordering and customer and user management, along with access to sales information. ISVs can utilize self-service platforms to update app profiles and get real-time reporting.
