MICROSOFT DOES FREE SYSTEMS TRIALS

It's hard to miss the words at www.microsoft.com declaring "Efficiency Is the Bottom Line, Free IT Trials." And if you click through, you will find that Microsoft is offering 120-day free trials on some heavy-duty software.

This includes the Forefront Server Security Management Console, Identity LifeCycle Manager 2007, the beta Forefront Identity Manager 2009,  Forefront Client Security, Forefront Security for Exchange server, the beta Forefront Protection for Exchange Serve, SharePoint Server 2007 trial version (released on Feb. 28, 2008). But wait, we've got more and the offering does look like a mutant infomercial. There's also Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008, Microsoft United Communications, along with a 90-day trial on Windows 7 Enterprise. And if you act now, we promise not to send you "Bob", Office Accounting  or Vista. Maybe this is what Microsoft is doing with the money it's going to save by not taking credit cards for Dynamics purchases. But how much money does a company need to spend to try some of this stuff? It's going to require some resources for some of these babies, right?
