EPICOR'S KRAUS ON LICENSE REVENUE

Besides bashing companies with channel, Epicors CEO George Klaus this week discussed the need for companies get bring in new license fees. Right now, maintenance supplies 50 percent of Epicor’s income. He’d like to see license revenue grow to 20 percent of the total. That compares with the 16.4 percent of revenue registered in the March quarter.

Klaus noted his belief that software companies that don’t grow by adding license revenue don’t last and cited PeopleSoft as an example of a company that was vulnerable because it spent all its time selling into installed base. Klaus also noted that Epicor wants to be a $1 billion in five years and that to reach that goal will require some acquisitions. However he cautioned that there is nothing “on the front burner.”
