DELTEK: VISION, MACONOMY GOING SAAS

Kevin Parker, DeltekDeltek plans a big year of product introductions with both its Vision and Maconomy lines to be made available in cloud versions this year. The broad outlines of the plan were discussed during this week's fourth quarter earnings conference call by CEO Kevin Parker.

Vision will start out in the United States, but Parker noted "We will move it internationally very quickly." Maconomy's SaaS entry will start out in its home territory of Scandinavia, where the bulk of its developers and users live, but will be taken global by year's end. In rapid fire, he also talked of new analytics and expense management products for 2012, but gave no details. SaaS is expected to open up "a very price-sensitive market" for Vision and an early adopter program is underway. Vision SaaS will have its own sales force that includes inside reps and sales development reps who will be calling users of older products. This is also the arena in which the channel will be operating. He saw the offering as particularly suited for smaller architecture and engineering firms, a traditional market for Deltek. Parker doubted that the introduction of SaaS versions would cannibalize sales of desktop products and in fact, in lines in which SaaS has been introduced, sales have gone up instead. "We are allowing customers to choose," he said.
