CLOUD APPS UP WITH VAR STARS

VAR Stars logoThe 2012 selection of Bob Scott’s VAR Stars, which will be announced next month, shows the growth of cloud-based applications in the midmarket reseller channel. This year, there were 39 members of the VAR Star class carrying a SaaS financial application. That’s up from 20 in 2011 and 11 in 2010.
We’ll save the details of which vendors had the greatest success in signing up resellers to carry these products. But suffice it to say that NetSuite and Intacct had the most significant growth, while Acumatica also had a good showing. And that does not count the number of applications from VARs that mentioned their hosting activities in the ERP space. And five of this year’s selection carry two or more cloud-based accounting products. These numbers should grow substantially by the time next year’s selection rolls around. There are already two of the 100 stars that indicated they are likely to pick up a SaaS products soon. SAP's Business ByDesign was up slightly in terms of reseller count, but a couple of those that carried last year appeared to have dropped the product. We're probably waiting on the web version of Business One to hit before there is appreciable growth in the SAP channel.
