EPICOR ERP LICENSE REVENUE DROPS

Pervez Qureshi, Epicor SoftwareLicense sales for Epicor Software's ERP operations fell by 26.3 percent for the first quarter ended December 31, compared to results a year ago. Although that was overcome by a 31-percent increase in services revenue for the same period, this segment was hurt by a weak European economy, CEO Pervez Qureshi said in a conference call late last week. Qureshi also noted that in general, "Uncertainly around election, and the financial cliff and concern about European debt confidence began to erode confidence" during the quarter.

For the recently ended period, Epicor lost $13.6 million, narrowed the red ink by 22.2 percent from a loss of $17.4 million in last year's corresponding quarter. Revenue was $228.5 million, up 19.9 percent from $209.4 million, reflecting the acquisition of SolarSoft Business Systems. First quarter license revenue was $20.9 million, from $28.3 million. However, ERP services revenue hit $80.3 million in the most recently ended quarter, up from $61 million. That pushed total ERP revenue to $140.2 million, a 12-percent hike from just over $125 million. In the company's other business segments, retail solutions continued to struggle with revenue of $34.4 million, down 3.4 percent from just under $36 million. Retail distribution revenue came in at just under $54 million, an increase of 10.4 percent  from $48.8 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2012.
