CONCUR RESTARTS VAR EFFORT

Bob Lewis, ConcurConcur, which markets travel-and-expense management applications, is rebooting its reseller program. The company has some legacy relationships, but really has not relied heavily on channel recruitment and sales. That is changing, according to Bob Lewis, the company’s senior director of business development. “VARs are now finding us,” says Lewis, who said the interest has been a bit surprising. However, he said Concur is getting approached by Microsoft and NetSuite VARs about adding the online offerings.

The company’s products, he said, have a steep, but short-learning curve, and are nowhere nearly as complicated as many of the products these resellers handle. “A VAR can invest a day or half a day to get up to speed to add another arrow to the quiver,” Lewis said. Resellers are also reporting Concur helps them bring in financial software deals that they might not get. The program offers Platinum-level resellers a 20-percent share of the first-year revenue and 10 percent for each following year. Concur will perform basic configuration and implementation. The VARs have an opportunity for integration work which may involve separate HR systems and customers may need project management. “There may be multiple integration points,” Lewis says Concur offers a small business product for companies with two to 25 employees, although it is probably better for those with five and up. “Our most rapid growth has been in the midmarket,” according to Lewis. That involves companies with 50 to 500 employees.
