INTUIT'S BIG REVEAL; BIG REVEAL? Featured

Brad Smith, IntuitIntuit promised "The biggest announcement in QuickBooks History" would result in a "Big Reveal" at this week's QuickBooks Connect conference. Many industry veterans believe something was omitted. After Intuit debuted a new version of QuickBooks Online Accountant, the main reaction was "That was the big announcement?" The Intuit Accountants Facebook page made that "We announced the most significant product offering ever for accounting professionals", not quite the same thing.

It was like being told you will see a two-headed calf and then realizing the bearded lady is just some fat dude in a dress. CEO Brad Smith's keynote included many of the same words from September's Investor's Day comments when the new the product was discussed in some detail. Smith then also described a platform to link the 18 applications he said are used by the average business and SVP Dan Wernikoff said the platform would accept data from any application and work on any device. Many of us missed Intuit's August purchase acquired Itduzzit, which provides integration for cloud products. That was announced in a blog by Avi Golan, SVP of the Intuit Partner Platform as bringing "us closer to achieving our mission of helping every small business app connect to the QuickBooks platform." That sounds like what I expected. After releasing no significant product press releases since July, the company released six this week. But none of them come close to that wider vision.
