Methinks, well, probably more interesting was whether the Salesforce platform would impact Sage's Data Cloud. The official response was "There is no immediate impact on the Sage Data Cloud strategy." What was not said was how long anyone considers immediate to be and some elaboration might help explain the fit with this statement: "We do plan to leverage the Salesforce1 platform to extend our capability in delivering cloud solutions to the small and medium-sized companies market. The Salesforce1 Platform enables the development and deployment of next-generation cloud apps, using rock-solid APIs and frameworks." Sage said a major goal for this deal is to improve internal operations. Sage also noted the next CRM cloud release is this spring. It might be worth nothing that the third of 13 questions on the FAQ sheet was about the impact on partners. Sage said improved organizational efficiency would lead to better collaboration with partners.

The recent agreement for Sage to use the Salesforce Customer Success Platform must have stirred conversation. Sage has issued an FAQ about the agreement and its implications. The main statement was that "We remain committed to SageCRM". Just to be sure nobody missed the point, that statement was made seven times, once with the word cloud tagged on, in a document one page and a quarter long.
