IS MICROSOFT’S SILENCE MEANINGFUL?

Microsoft logoAfter July’s Worldwide Partner Conference, I asked a reseller if as little had happened as suggested by the Microsoft press releases issued. He said, “Yes.” Since then, there has been little of significance delivered publicly.

There is a steady array of postings on the blog of Kevin Machayya, which is essentially the official voice of Microsoft Business Solutions. But the information largely elaborates on what is already known. So does the relative silence mean anything? I talked to one observer who said the company’s developers seem to be working on other-than-normal projects, but nobody is talking. It’s hard not to conjecture that Microsoft is working on something big. The only thing that makes any sense is that a true cloud version of its financial applications is being developed behind closed doors. That’s despite a posting this week about a customer company that chose a cloud solution. The blog alleges that the Dynamics NAV is a true cloud product.
