QBES GROWS 24.6 PERCENT

Intuit logoSales of Intuit’s QuickBooks Enterprise Solution kept moving along with the company this week reporting 76,000 active users for the first quarter ended October 30. That number is 24.6 percent higher than the 61,000 at the end of last year’s first quarter.
Active users reflect the number of customers on maintenance plans, not unit sales. The number is 3.9 percent higher the 73,000 than in the fourth quarter of 2012. It was a return to a more normal growth in sequential quarters, which has usually been 2,000 to 4,000. However, between the third and fourth quarters the number of new users was up 7,000. It’s also probably going to get harder to get a large percent increase if the number of users goes up at the usual range now that the year-ago comparisons are getting tougher. Unfortunately, QBES is not material to Intuit’s results so the company does not say much about it and in particular does not discuss the reasons behind the performance in any quarter.
