BLACKBAUD BUYS WHIPPLEHILL Featured

Travis Warren, WhippleHill CommunicationsBlackbaud has acquired WhippleHill Communications, a company that services K-12 private schools. The Charleston, S.C.-based nonprofit vendor is paying $35 million in cash for all shares of WhippleHill, which is based in New Hampshire. The acquired company, which was founded in 1988, will be merged with an existing Blackbaud group that serves the private school market and will be managed by WhippleHill president and founder, Travis Warren, as part of Blackaud's General Market Business Unit.

WhippleHill markets software for enrollment, content and learning management and for managing student information. The company says it has more than 400 private schools as customers. WhippleHill's cloud-based front-office applications  will be integrated with Blackbaud's back-office systems. In a recent earnings webcast, Blackbaud CEO Mike Gianoni said his company would be making tuck-in acquisitions so it looks like this is probably only the first that we'll see this year.
