SON OF QUICKBOOKS CONNECT Featured

IntuitIntuit is taking the name of last fall's QuickBooks Connect conference and applying it to a 15-day mini-conference tour that starts next week. Certification and training will be available in 14 of the 15 towns and there will be presentations by software vendors and well-known industry speakers. The one exception to the general format occurs on January 7 at the Omni Providence Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island. ProAdvisor. Certification and testing will not be offered at this event.

However, Intuit is paying for two-hour consultations for small business owners, given by ProAdvisors. I have mixed feelings about Connect. It was highly successful for Intuit in terms of the pep rally atmosphere that companies use to energize their customers and channel. Newswise, it was like being told the company was going to announce a cure for cancer and then having a new cough syrup introduced. I'm hardly the only one in the press and analyst community who thinks Intuit is taking itself way too seriously. Anyway, if you want to hit the presentations, they start on January 6 simultaneously in Miami, Fla., and Mountain View, Calif. The rest of the schedule is the following: January 7, Dallas, Texas, and Portland, Ore.; January 8, Houston, Texas, and Seattle, Wash.; January 13, Atlanta, Ga., Los Angeles, Calif., and Uniondale, N.Y.; January 14, Philadelphia, Pa., Tampa, Fla., and San Diego, Calif.; January 15, a second appearance in San Diego, Calif., and one in Bethesda, Md.
