EPICOR HITS CLOUD WITH POS Featured

Noel Goggin, Epicor RetailEpicor Software has introduced Epicor Retail Store Point of Sale in the Cloud. The company this month promised the product would significantly reduce deployments from what it said are often one-to-two year ordeals. The system utilizes Amazon Web Services Infrastructure as a Service platform moving all business logic to the cloud. Epicor also says the application enables retailers to "future proof" [a phrase I hope doesn't catch on POS systems to scale and support new countries/regions and new POS devices, along with integrating with new technologies and new partners.

I should use the phrase Epicor Retail as this is the unit that is being spun out of Epcior Software. The announcement had a prepared statement from EVP Neil Goggin, who will head the independent unit saying, "Over the past year, Epicor Retail has made significant investments in enabling delivery models in the Cloud; with the introduction of our POS in the Cloud solution today, Epicor Retail now has a fully integrated and cloud-based solutions suite spanning POS, Digital Commerce, Order Management, CRM, Merchandising, Planning, Sourcing, Audit, and Analytics."
