CONSOLIDATION GETS NEW LOOK Featured

Andy Vabulas, I.B.I.S.This year there are new twists on M&A as globalization makes a big impact, at least in the Dynamics AX market. That was recently shown by Sonata Software's purchase of Peachtree Corners, Ga.-based I.B.I.S., led by Andy Vabulas. Sonata is based in India. More recently, Ameri Holdings launched a hostile bid for Edgewater Technology and while its operating business, Ameri100, is headquartered in Princeton, N.J., most company executives are of Indian origin.

The company pictures the combination of U.S. front-line and back-office Indian staff as way a modern business should be run. Meanwhile, Australia-based UXC, which acquired Tectura North America via its Eclipse subsidiary in 2013, has itself received a buyout offer from U.S.-based IT service firm CSC. Although not purely an AX play, Interdyn BMI was purchased earlier this year by Denmark-based Columbus. Like I.B.I.S., BMI is known as a quality organization. On the rollup side Enavate emerged last year preparing to become the world's largest AX reseller. It would not be surprising to see global Sage channel businesses emerge as the company moves away from its country-by-country product model to emphasizing global products such as Life, Impact and X3. The fact that it has just launched a global partner program provides a framework to enable global businesses to operate.
