MICROSOFT RENAMES WPC; KILLS ENVISION Featured

Christ Caposella, Microsoft Microsoft has renamed the Worldwide Partner Conference. The event to be held from July 9 through 13 in Washington D.C. will be called Microsoft Inspire while the ill-fated Envision, the replacement for convergence, will become part of Microsoft Ignite from September 25 to 29. The change was recently announced on a blog by Chris Capossela, the company's chief marketing officer.

Build is for developers and Inspire for partners, while Ignite, targeted at IT leaders, will now also draw in the business leaders that were supposed to be drawn to Envision. The first Envision was a disaster and the plans for the second had been for a smaller conference in February. Taken together, the moves represent a continuation of the drive toward big business—this stuff does not sound like a home for SMB business and Microsoft apparently has decided to leave users beneath the top business tiers to the outside conferences such as the Dynamics Summit user groups.
