MESSAGE ABOUT REALWORLD UPGRADES Featured

RealWorldThe current message to RealWorld users on the Passport Software website is a testament to how long software can endure. Great Plains acquired the former RealWorld early in 2000. Great Plains killed the product, which served as a lesson of what not to do with acquired software. During that time, the RealWorld code lived on as Passport Business Solutions.

The website message is aimed at RealWorld users who are concerned about upgrading. According to the message, "The most common reason people call us to upgrade is due to system crashes." It also reports most callers are not performing regular backups. Passport notes it can help with a smooth transition and safe data migration and "with the click of a button, your new software can look just like the RealWorld screen." One reseller site says RealWorld had 15,000 to 20,000 users when purchased so it would be interesting to know how many have remained loyal.
