HACKERS TARGET ORACLE, SAP SYSTEMS Featured

Mariano Nunez, Onapsis Two security firms say hackers are targeting unpatched business systems from Oracle and SAP. The firms, Digital Shadows and Onapsis, said in a study released this week at least a dozen companies and government agencies have been targeted while thousands are subject to exploitation of old security flaws.

The release of the study led the Department of Homeland Security to issue an alert. Issued in London, the report said systems at two government agencies and at media, energy and finance sectors businesses were hit after failing to install patches or take other security measures recommended by Oracle or SAP. Homeland security issued an alert titled "Malicious cyber activity targeting ERP applications". Many such issues are a decade or more old, but are now being targeted by hackers, cyber criminals and government spy agencies, Onapsis Chief Executive Mariano Nunez said in an interview with Reuters. "The urgency level among chief security officers and CEOs should be far higher," he said.
