David DierkeAccountMate doesn't sign a lot of new resellers and CEO David Dierke says that's one of the hazards of being a source-code software company. But it enlisted 10 new dealers this year and that's double the amount for 2008.

It also just added two new resellers in Latin America, bringing the total to five. Dierke said that is significant, considering that most third-party products for AccountMate aren't available in those countries. Dierke said new recruits have come from Cyma, Sage Pro Series and one Dynamics NAV dealer. One reason for the success is the company has changed the way it approaches new dealers and is targeting organizations it believes will take the product seriously. "We took the emphasis off signing anybody who came and knocked on the door," he said. The product has a big learning curve and it can take VARs months to make the first sale.
