NETSUITE TO ADD UP TO 100 VARS

Zach NelsonNetSuite could add 50 to 100 resellers to its channel this year, according to comments made by CEO Zach Nelson in this week’s first-quarter earnings call. Nelson provided no firm target for growing the channel after noting that “100 qualified resellers”, who handle other midmarket financial applications, contacted the company in response to its SP100 program which offers a one-year deal that gives switching resellers 100-percent margin.
The promotion started too late in the quarter to change the percentage of revenue NetSuite receives from VARs, which stayed near the historic 20 percent of income derived from the channel, but there was an increase in sales. NetSuite has also told its direct sales force that it can’t handle deals for less than $10,000 in annual recurring revenue, which seems to define part of the market NetSuite envisions the VARs serving. NetSuite has about 180 resellers, but the new applicants are typically larger operations than the current channel members. Nelson seemed to hint that 100 new resellers was the outside limit. “I think that’s something we could handle and manage effectively,” he said, but noted that the company would consider adding more. “If more came, I wouldn’t turn them away if they were qualified,” he said.
