SAGE EXCHANGE TO REMOVE COMPLIANCE NEEEDS

Greg HammermeisterSage Exchange, a platform for its payment services division, was part of the flurry of Sage news that has come out in the past month. And it’s part of the Sage effort to make payment processing a service that works across most product lines as  was the vision when the company purchased Verus for several times revenue in 2006. The theory was sound. But it didn’t get put into practice. That has been changing over the last year under Greg Hammermeister, president of the Payments Solutions Division.
The big deal about Exchange is that it is Payment Card Industry certified. And since the processing of transactions from Sage customers and partners actually take place on Exchange, not in the Sage software application, they don’t have to obtain PCI certification, Hammermeister said in a session this month at the Insights conference. “We are trying to the divorce software solution from even recording credit card number,” he said. Sage is also becoming more organized in recruiting resellers as referral agents and now has consultants to help VARs with the process. From the software angle, the thrust is helping merchants capture the sale on any device, whether a POS terminal, a mobile device or via the Web.
