OPEN SYSTEMS OPENS IN COSTA RICA

Open Systems has moved into the Central American country of Costa Rica.  The company's website has a photograph of the country's president cutting the ribbon of the Grupo Moreno in San Jose, Costa Rica, last month and says that "Grupo Moreno has partnered with Open Systems Costa Rica to launch the Open Systems product lines in Costa Rica."
The company did not respond to a request for an interview regarding expansion plans. The software vendor's management seems to have taken a vow of silence or entered the witness protection program over the last year. However, the company has confirmed that it has played catch up on posting press releases on its Web site. Until recently, there was one actual press release issued between July 20 and now that had been posted and that was the October 6 announcement of the top Open Systems reseller. The site now shows releases that announce that four new channel members were announced in the first four months of 2010 and two at the end of 2009. Among the stealth VARs were CuSoft Informatica of Caguas, Puerto Rico, "announced" in July; Business Partners Group of Minneapolis in April; DBM Computer Consulting of Corvallis, Wash., a year ago. Open Systems also signed EST Enterprises of Danville, Va., and Trinity Data Solutions of Flemington, N.J., both in March; and Sean Brewer Consulting of Ilion, N.Y., as technical partners providing services to the channel.
