MICROSOFT ROLLS OUT COMMUNITY 2.0

Dynamics logoMicrosoft has put together a new generation of its online community with Community 2.0. There doesn’t appear to have been a press release on this. But the site at http://www.microsoft.com/dynamics/community has a new look and a spate of information that is designed to boost the value of the site in the eyes of the channel, including a blog post entitled, “Thinking of Microsoft as an ERP Company.”

The fact this got posted suggests Microsoft realizes people sometimes think it’s a consumer company that, oh, by the way, also has some financial software. Another post looks promising, “Finding Content Can Be Overwhelming, Community 2.0 Makes It Effortless..” However, looking at the page, I’m not sure it’s easier to find stuff than it was in the former lifetime. Most posts were made on December 1 and 2, but one of the more interesting items was from November 24, which notes the offer to customers that they can receive 20 percent off list price for the four Dynamics accounting applications if they purchase up to 20 additional licenses by December 23. This is labeled the Dynamics ERP Holiday Season User Offer.
