MICROSOFT: DYNAMICS AX NOT FAVORED

Dynamics AX logoThe market’s belief that Dynamics AX is the product of the future is strong enough that Microsoft has responded that it loves all four Dynamics products. The title of a YouTub post says it all: “Is Microsoft Dynamics AX the Favorite Child?” An interview with Guy Weismantel, Microsoft’s director of ERP marketing has been posted on YouTube “dispelling the myth” as it was phrased in an introductory post on the Dynamics Community website

. In the interview, Weismantel discussed the four products, producing nothing of surprise to most resellers. The basic scenario holds: AX is higher-end, multi-regional and supply chain oriented; NAV’s strength is the ability to customize it for different markets; SL is for project-oriented companies and GP is “a workhorse.” (In fact, over the years, my explanation of the positioning the four products is about the same.). He pointed out that Microsoft is bringing new versions of each product to market (including the most recent new version, NAV). SL will hit in the spring; release 2 of GP 2010 in the first half and the much more heavily publicized AX 2012 edition for the second half. The interviewer, Derek Singleton, ERP Analyst for Software Advice, asked about how investment decision and what choices were made and not surprisingly, those question weren’t answered, but how much can you say on complex subjects in four minutes and 59 seconds. As the introduction to the video says "The Dynamics ERP 'kids”'are no different! We have high aspirations for each of them”. But you know in any large family, someone is going to whine, “Mom always liked you best.”
