BASIS WARNS RIM OVER OS NAME

Basis International, which makes the BBx operating system language, has warned Research In Motion about use of BBX as the name of a new Blackberry operating system.
Basis says naming the OS BBX is causing confusion in the worldwide Basis community. And it has served RIM with a cease-and-desist demand. However, RIM has said there is enough difference between the two companies it shouldn't matter. Basis says it has thousands of product licenses installed that have the BBX prefix and run on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and other operating systems. BBX was the original programming language for Sage’s MAS 90 application. RIM recently rolled out its BBX at a developer conference, The naming issue is probably the least of its problems after outages affected millions of Blackberry users for three days last week.
