COLUMBUS IT TURNS IN STRONG HALF

Columbus IT, the Dynamics reseller based in Denmark,  turned in a strong first half in the Americas as software and maintenance boomed and even though consulting revenue showed far less growth the result was a 17-percent hike in revenue for the half ended June 30. EBITDA for this hemisphere was $2.7 million for the six months, up 21.1 percent (when measured in Danish kroner), over a year ago. Revenue was $9.9 million.

Of the revenue segments, software was up by 23.9 percent and maintenance 33.9 percent. The laggard was consulting revenue, which rose only by 6.8 percent, but a lot of people would like that in this economy. The Americas beat out the average for the rest of the company as worldwide revenue hit $75.4 million, up 4.5 percent over last year's corresponding period. And the bottom line was about $972,000, compared to a year earlier loss of about $563,000 for the same period as last year. As someone for whom proofreading is a challenge, I hesitate to pick too much on others. But the English translator for financial results must have subcontracted out the job to a younger sibling. An official statement noted "Revenues of DKK 5.4M against DKK -4.4M", which is obviously the net result, as the term is used in Danish to denote the bottom line. I also assume most companies don’t report negative revenue and it matches the result total elsewhere. Picky, maybe, but mistakes in financial news is a bit bad form.
