SOLUTION STRATEGISTS' NATHAN SELLS SAGE BIZ

Art Nathan made a business exit this week. But it was a selective exit as he sold only the Sage part of his Cranford, N.J.-Solution Strategists’ business to growth-minded Net@Work of New York City. While he made the decision because of family considerations, it was a step that was guided by his perception of the direction the market is taking because he kept the Deltek line that he began marketing early last year and Intuit’s QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions that he picked up mid-2008. In fact, Nathan has been among the happiest sounding of the resellers recruited in 2008 by former Sage channel VP Taylor Macdonald during his one year at Deltek building that company’s channel. On the Intuit side, Nathan spoke of his belief that this part of his business has strong growth ahead and during the last few months he has talked favorably about the way Intuit treats its VARs. It’s been clear that QBES has been hurting the MAS 90 business, which was part of the practice sold to Alex and Eddie Solomon, along with that product’s usual partner, MAS 200.
