SAGE JOINS OPEN SOURCE GROUP Featured

Klaus-Michael Vogelberg, SageSage has joined the Open Invention Network, a group that promotes and defends Linux. I didn't remember the words "Sage" and "Linux" appearing together before and did a search for the word on the company's website and the only result was the press release announcing this agreement. Sage had a prior agreement to be able to embed MySQL into its products.

But other than that, a search for "Open Source" had no other returns. However, an inquiry to public relations brought the information that a number of products such as Sage One and X3 run on Linux and that the company actively participates in the open source community. Anyway, here's the official statement by Sage's chief technology officer, Klaus-Michael Vogelberg, "Linux and open source are driving innovation in cloud and mobile computing, and emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things. These are developments that are very close to our hearts at Sage," he said. "We applaud the Open Invention Network's efforts to promote openness and innovation for the benefit of the technical community and our wider society and would encourage our partners to support their work." The phrase about encouraging partners to support the organization's work suggests Sage is more aggressively encouraging them to play in the open source world.
