WIPFLI, BKD PICK CLOUD PRODUCTS Featured

Mark Stevens, Wipfli The movement of reselling firms to cloud products advanced a step in the last few weeks. Last month, BKD Technologies signed to sell Intacct. This week, Wipfli said it is adding NetSuite to its roster of financial applications. It's particularly notable as BKD was recently named to the Dynamics Inner Circle and Wipfli to that vendor's President's Club. Wipfli was No. 13 on Bob Scott's Top 100 VARs for 2015 with $37 million in revenue. It carries Dynamics AX/GP and Abila MIP.

With $14 million in revenue, BKD was No 37 in the Top 100. It resells Dynamics AX/GP and Sage 100/500 and X3. BKD actually put Intacct on its list of products with its Top 100 submission—but it didn't jar my memory that the product was new in the lineup until recently. The top part of the Top 100 is still light on cloud and non-Microsoft products. With the addition of Wipfli to the cloud club, seven of the Top 20 are marketing web-based ERP software applications. Wipfli also said it will join the NetSuite SuiteCloud Developer Network within the year. The accounting firm has about 120 developers in Bangalore and Pune, India, for NetSuite customizations and the development of manufacturing-specific add-on applications. In a prepared statement, Mark Stevens, partner with Wipfli's manufacturing and distribution consulting and technology integration group, gave a fairly standard explanation for the decision. These clients, he said, "recognize that large investments in server rooms and IT staff are not their core competency, and that the cloud is becoming a primary consideration."
