SAGE SUMMIT ADDS BIG NAMES

Recruiting for sponsors for next week's Sage Summit closed on an up beat. This month, the company added Microsoft as its sole Diamond Sponsor and Deloitte Digital, MasterCard and Salesforce as Platinum sponsors, pushing that group to five members. Overall, that brings the total exhibitors and sponsors to 124, if I did the math correctly, and I had reported there were 114 a year ago. While the total numbers aren't up that much, the number of big players outside of the usual Sage reseller and ISV community look good, much better than last year.

I still wonder how appealing sitting through mornings of outside speakers is to attendees who are presumably present to learn about their software and running businesses. Last year's press briefing was atrocious. The one good official event in 2014 was the interview with VP Connie Certusi, always informative. But this year, all I keep hearing is about the outside speakers—no promise of news or meaningful access to decision makers has been volunteered, in short nothing of value, and there appears to be a desire to have the press attend for the shortest possible time. And since the reseller events are closed to the press, I saw no reason to attend. But I figure I'll see the Sage VARs—at Acumatica, Intacct and NetSuite events.
