WINDOWS PHONE STRIKES OUT AT SYNERGY
Accountants are known for conservatism. So a show of hands at a session about mobile devices at the Thomson Reuters Synergy conference this week should be interpreted with that in mind. And in a session with about 80 attendees, not one person admitted to having a Windows Phone.
There were a few Blackberrys, but overwhelmingly members of the group own iPhones. And the dominance of Apple in the mobile arena goes further with this group. They also almost all have iPads if they have a mobile computing device and almost all did. Now, this has taken place before almost anybody has an opportunity to get hands on a Surface tablet. But this kind of installed base suggests that it's going to be extremely difficult for Microsoft to make a dent with users who have only recently purchased mobile devices.
