Wave Accounting has secured $12 million in funding for its efforts to develop the market for its online accounting applications. Based in Toronto, Wave said the funding round was led by The Social+Capital Partnership with participation from existing investors Charles River Ventures and OMERS Venture.

Infor has named Ali Shadman as SVP of a new organization that it said would help customers upgrade to the company’s latest technologies. Shadman, who reports to CEO Charles Phillips, is responsible for building tools and programs to accelerate customer upgrades to the latest release of Infor applications. One specific goal was to utilize virtualization in hybrid cloud, on-premise deployments. Previously, Shadman was VP and chief technologist for HP’s Technology consulting division. He also held executive positions with Unisys over eight years in two different tenures with that company.

EPICOR LICENSE REVS DROP

Epicor Software felt the impact of transition issues as software license sales fell by 14.2 percent with an overall revenue gain of 1.2 percent on a pro forma basis for the first quarter ended March 31. The company, reflecting the combined results of the former Activant Solutions and Epicor under the latter's name, reported a loss $9.5 million on revenue of $204.3 million.

Intuit's QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions continues its act as the company's Energizer Bunny. It just keeps going. Intuit ended the third quarter on April 30 with 64,000 active QBES customers, which was up 18.5 percent from the 54,000 at the end of the quarter a year earlier.

SAP has put into motion what it called an acceleration of its cloud strategy. That's based on the recently completed acquisition of SuccessFactors, whose CEO and founder Lars Dalgaard is leading the effort. Beyond the broad scope, among the more immediate concerns to the channel is the company said it was accelerating release cycle of Business ByDesign from six months to six months.
