OLD (SAGE) FRIENDS AT INFOR EVENT

Walter Goodfield, InforAt first, no familiar faces stood out in the crowd at the Infor Channel Partner Summit in Nashville this week.  But then very quickly, the faces of two Sage resellers I know and one from another organization I do not know well materialized
All three firms had just signed on to sell Infor's SyteLine. Among these was Cherry Williamson of Emerald TC of Atlanta and Brad Kain, who runs the Infor business under the K&R Consulting name and sells Sage as part of DSD Business Systems from his Johnston, Iowa, location. Also represented was Pittsburgh's Grossman Yanak & Ford. All have carried Sage 500. And the common thread was probably summed up by Kain when he said he had been looking for a high-end manufacturing package and Sage does not have one, including X3 which he said lacks the features he needs. But Infor is not just recruiting on its downmarket side. It also has Oracle channel members on the upside. So it's going to make things interesting in the midmarket and elsewhere. One reason these folks are with Infor is Walter Goodfield, who has served as VP of recruitment and enablement since March. He spent July through February 2012 as director of strategic alliances at CDC Software, a period through which that company was a train wreck. But before that he spent 10 years at Sage, where he was director of field sales from May 2009 through June 2011 and dealt with the top 200 partners.
