NETSUITE BUYS RETAIL ANYWHERE

Branden Jenkins, Retail AnywhereNetSuite has acquired Retail Anywhere, which makes multi-channel retail management systems. Retail Anywhere was led by CEO Branden Jenkins who joined the Pasos Robles, Calif.-based company in 1998 and assumed his current position in 2002. He has become GM of NetSuite’s Retail/eTail operations.

In making the deal, NetSuite picked up a company that was already viewed as an important partner, which was marketing already marketing POS for NetSuite. NetSuite says the software is well suited for the evolving demands for selling through a variety of ways. "What companies are wrestling with is when they want to sell across multiple channels – They want to sell online, have telesales people and sell onsite," said Andy Lloyd, GM of commerce products at NetSuite. Traditional POS systems have been designed to handle inventory in store. Retail Anywhere can also handle inventory needs for the other channels. The acquired company’s product line includes Retail POS, Mobile POS, eCommerce, Merchandise Management and Warehouse. Lloyd and Jenkins said the deal stemmed from the classic problem faced by a small company - it did not have the geographic footprint to support customers around the globe and prospects were wary of dealing with a small vendor, no matter how good its technology.
