Jim Hagemann-Snabe, SAPThe repositioning of SAP's Business ByDesign application up market is apparently going well. In a webcast regarding SAP's fourth-quarter results, the company pointed to success in that arena. "ByDesign is gaining further traction among larger customers," co-CEO Jim Hagemann-Snabe said during the discussion.
He said Lufthansa had adopted ByD for a 300-user implementation and that in general "We are selling more users per customers." Hagemann-Snabe also said ByD is replacing competing cloud-based products. And with the acquisition of Success Factors, SAP is upping its claims for the cloud."We are now the leading cloud player," the executive claimed. No statistics providing regarding the number of ByD or Business One units sold although the latter product was described as fast-moving. And now for the numbers in IFRS and translated from euros. After-tax profit was about $587 million, a 10-percent hike from last year's first quarter. Revenue was roughly $4.4 billion, an 11-percent rise from a year ago. Software revenue was around $842 million, a rise of 4 percent. Support income of about $2.58 billion represented a 14-percent increase over a year ago. SAP also started breaking out cloud revenue, which was $38.3 million, up sharply from a very small base.
