SAGE SPELLS OUT FIRST HALF SALES Featured

Steve Kelly, Sage These numbers will mean more to the people who already know them, but Sage has detailed the number of customers sold for some of its prime products. The statistics for North America for the first half ended March 31 were detailed in a conference call this week. The number of customers sold during the half were reported as follows:

Sage 100, 237; Sage 300, 253, Sage CRE (construction and real estate), 503. The CRE numbers seem strong, but I don't have a comparison I have always thought that the construction VARS were fewer, bigger and probably more sophisticated in their operations than many ERP resellers. Apparently, X3 was not mentioned. One observer's analysis of the customer numbers was "I'm guessing this is gross adds and not net of people who drop maintenance" Let's turn to the tape, which shows that in early June we reported the statement from CEO Steve Kelly that Sage 50 cloud subscriptions drove growth and that was available in Canada but the cloud version was only introduced into the United States in February. My first reaction to the customer numbers for 100 was that they were not great, but it's veteran product in a saturated market, so that would not be surprising. During the first half earnings webcast, Kelly also said X-3 sales rose 17 percent worldwide for the half, but were flat in this country.
