The title appears to be a change to previously common title such leaders  from having the regional head called president and, in this case, Hickman would be a replacement for Aziz Benmalek, who Sage said last month will leave the company. Since Hickman has been managing director of Sage Canada since August 2022, it also continues a pattern of promoting from the maple leaf country. Past executives promoted from Canada to head North America included Nancy Harris, who left Sage in January 2022 and is now retired, and Nancy Teixeira, who was moved from Canada where she was EVP of enterprise in May 2019 to head channel operations in North America. She is now with reseller Net at Work. Before joining Sage, Hickman was chief revenue officer for Apollo Insurance until August 2022 and held the same title at Calligo from May 2020 through November 21. He previously spent eight years nine months with WinMagic, where he was COO from September 2012 through September 2018.
