BAASS ENTERS U.S. WITH AXIS DEAL

Manny Buigas, Axis Global PartnersSage reseller Baass Business Solutions, which has been on the grow in Canada, moved into the United States with the acquisition of Miami-based Axis Global Partners. By picking up Axis, Toronto-based Baass also enters the Caribbean and Latin American markets. Earlier this year, Baass folded in Equation Technologies, based in Richmond Hill, Ontario. In mid-1912, Baass took over CA-Plus, which had offices in Toronto and Edmonton.

Axis carries Sage 300 (the former Accpac), the soon-to-be dead Sage Pro and NetSuite. Axis also has offices in Chicago. The company, whose partners include Manny Buigas, had opened a Toronto office in 2010. Axis was formed after Buigas left NextLevel Information System, where he was vice president, and formed the new company in 2005. He was joined by Tony Chiodo, who operated the NextLevel office in Chicago, and by Kelly Hummel, who owned a reselling firm in St Louis. They operated under the name Axis Integrated Systems until the company split into Axis Global Partners and Axis Integrated Solutions in 2008. The latter, headed by Hummel, is headquartered in St. Louis and headed by Hummel. Baass ranks No. 29 on this year's Top 10 VAR list.
