Microsoft has purchased Citus Data, whose offering is anopen source extension to PostgreSQL. Microsoft says Citus transforms PostgreSQL into a distributed database and that the deal is another step in its commitment to Azure as an open platform.

Epicor Software has honored five organizations with Customer of the Year awards. It is the third year the company has offered the Epicor Customer Excellence Global Awards program, recognizing customers who have used Epicor products and solutions “to achieve excellence in business efficiency, customer experience, and overall performance.”

Analytical software vendor Qlik has acquired Crunch Data and CrunchBot, the latter’s AI-powered analytics bot. Philadelphia, Pa.-based Qlik said the technology enables users ask questions in a conversational manner through the Qlik Sense UI and within collaboration tools such as Slack, Skype, Salesforce Chat and Microsoft Teams.

Oracle pays women, Asians and black less than white workers and overwhelmingly hires Asian college graduates with student visas who must stay on good terms with Oracle to remain in this country, the Department of Labor alleged this week. Oracle rejected the claims of a lawsuit filed this week in a prepared statement.
